Description
(Eublaberus prosticus)
Orange Head Roaches
Orange Head Roaches are a great feeder roach although not as popular as Dubia or Red Runner Roaches.
They breed quickly with minimal care needs. In fact, they are more prolific breeders than the dubia roaches.
They can not climb smooth vertical surfaces which makes it easier to contain them. They also do not fly.
Orange Head Roaches have a high meat content and nymphs have a meaty, soft body that makes them an excellent food choice for can reptiles, frogs and many mantids.
They can live for about a year as an adult and grow to approximately 2 inches. It takes them about 4 to five months to become breeder age at temps in the 70’s. The are live breeders, which means that they gestate their young and give birth to live babies that are about .25″ when born.
Orange Headed Roaches get their name from the color of the pronotum when they reach adulthood.
CAUTION: Orange Headed Roaches are known to have voracious appetites and must be well fed at all times with a good source of protein, or they will eat the wings and sometimes the entire bodies of their tank mates. They will also eat worms and other invertebrates that are housed in their enclosure.
