The question above came from a customer and it is a great question.  Roaches have a wide variety of needs when it comes to food.  Some roaches need fruit in their diet to thrive and breed.

Some roaches require moisture and humidity while others require heat and dry air.

With all of that being said, most roaches can do well on fish flakes, carrots and good dried leaves, like Pecan leaves, which is what we raise our roaches on.  We do add fruit to many of our roach enclosures.  For instance, Hissing Roaches, Giant Lobster Roaches, Giant Cave Roaches and some others, will not breed for us if they don’t have some fruit in their diets, so we are sure to supplement their fish flake and carrot staples with banana, apple and orange slices every week.  We do not provide all three at once, but we do switch off weekly.  This week they get bananas.  We will do oranges next week.  This helps provide a good balanced diet.  We also supplement with calcium blocks.
