Description
The genus of Blaberus is the most popular genus of cockroaches in the hobby.
Why? They are large, easy to care for, docile and breed well. The polymorphic roach is one of the smaller Blaberus species, being the size of the Discoid Roach, B. discoidalis.
They get their name because of the variety of pronotum patterns that can arise out of the same colony.
They prefer a moist substrate and some egg crate for hiding places.
They are native to South America, and appear to have made their way up to Florida.
Adults range from 1.5″ to about 2″.
They love oranges as a treat and will do fine on dog food or fish flakes and water crystals. They also like dried leaves of hardwood trees.
8 Roaches per unit.
